Bengt-Olov Palmqvist is presently the Senior Lecturer in Aural and Music Theory at the Australian National University, School of Music in Canberra. Originally from Sweden, where he gained a Master of Music in Pedagogy, Aural and Music Theory from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Olle, as he is affectionately known, is a leading authority in Aural training.

Olle is internationally acclaimed in many centres of learning for his highly successful tuition skills, and he has a personal interest in the development of rhythmic understanding.  He is also well known as a Choral Conductor and Jazz Arranger. His composition skills shine all throughout The Refinement of Rhythm - a condensation of his life’s passion of teaching music at all levels.

The pedagogical material in The Refinement of Rhythm has been developed and fine tuned over a number of decades, and then thoroughly tested in the classroom, as well as with individuals. The feedback has been overwhelming positive from enthusiastic students from all over the world, including the United States, Europe and Australasia.
